Commercial licensing boundary

MIT vs paid · Last updated 2026-08-12

What is MIT

Unless a file states otherwise, the public repository and published npm package thumbgate are offered under the MIT License: local CLI, hooks, public MCP tooling, docs, and tests shipped in that package.

What is not MIT

Customer-specific rules

Customer-specific rules and configs produced under a paid engagement are owned by the customer as deliverables under the SOW, except that ThumbGate retains pre-existing IP and may reuse generalized non-confidential know-how. Production approvals remain the customer’s responsibility; ThumbGate does not assume production change-control ownership by default.
